Angels Watching Over Us
Today is the first day of 2006.
And I literally began the New Year with a big bang. As I was driving
to church this morning, a car from a side road ran into mine on the
main road. The lady driver did not stop at the junction. Maybe she
couldn't stop as the icy roads were too slippery. Or maybe she
couldn't see the incoming traffic on the main road as her views were
blocked by the snow hills at almost every street corner. Thank God
that I was driving slowly, and that impact was not too great. Both
cars suffered extensive damages but nobody was injured. Not a drop
of blood shed, and not a single bone broken.
I believe angels are watching
over us in every move we make and in every step we take. This
promise is given to everyone who has made the LORD as his or her
refuge.
Because you have made the LORD, Who is my
refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways. (Psalm 91:9-11)
Though we may never see with
human eyes the invisible hands of our guardian angels, we can be
rest assured that they are all around us all day and through the
night. At times when our enemies draw close against us, our angels
will surely fight on our behalf. The angel of the LORD will guard
and rescue all who reverence Him.
This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard
him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them. (Psalm 34:6-7)
Thus we can be confident that
God's presence in our lives will protect us in every dangerous
situation. Though surrounded by many dangers, we are not in danger.
We can find His divine peace in the midst of our troubles. God is
our Shepherd. He will take good care of us, giving us perfect peace
and protection. He will preserve us when we hide under the shadow of
His wings. His only requirement is that we abide in Him. When we are
in Him, He will see us through the plagues, dangers, terrors,
snares, perils and pestilences. We will be more than overcomers. God
is our Refuge and Hiding Place in our times of trouble.
Are they not all
ministering spirits sent forth to minister
for those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:14)
Angels are ministering spirits
who are sent forth by God to help and take care of us, and
especially for those who are to receive His salvation. The LORD has
placed His angels to be in charge of our total well-being. They are
to keep us safe in all that we do. Their protection is guaranteed
when we walk in the ways of God. The holy angels cannot do anything
against God. If they do, they are no longer angels but demons - just
like those fallen ones who were cast out from heaven.
It is impossible for the angels,
commissioned by God, to do any assignment other than those they have
been ordered by God to do for us. Thus, we cannot order the angels
around to do whatever we wish or want. We cannot be arrogant to
demand our ways, abusing His grace, mercy and love! The angels can
only do those things that are right for us, yes, things that God has
planned for our lives. We must follow our Shepherd, and not our
Shepherd following us! We must hear His voice, and obey Him by
walking in His light and life! In this way, we can enjoy His ever
presence with us.
You may ask me if angels were
all around us, why do we still have accidents? Why do we still have
problems and troubles? I believe that more than twelve legions of
angels were there with Jesus on Crucifixion Day. But Jesus still had
to die so that the Scriptures could be fulfilled. It must happen
thus.
Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My
Father,
and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of
angels?
How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled,
that it must happen thus? (Matthew 26:53-54)
His angels were all ready to
take Him down from the cruel cross. But God the Father did not will
it! Some said that it rained that day. I could almost imagine that
it was so. When all the angels in heaven cried, their tears would
seem to be like pouring rain. When God turned His face away as He
couldn't bear the sight, it must have looked like rain when all the
angels cried. As the sun slipped away and the skies turned to grey,
when Jesus gave His all, that's when all their tears began to fall.
But that is not the end of the story! Jesus was resurrected on the
third day! All His angels were greatly rejoicing with great joy in
glorious triumphant praise!
Thus why do we still have
accidents in our lives? Maybe so that we can have our own
"resurrection" stories to tell others. It is good to be alive and
living in Him! Even so, we can rejoice in Him always!
