Until The Words Of God Are Fulfilled

Revelation 17:17
For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose,
to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast,
until the words of God are fulfilled.

Our God is sovereign. From everlasting to everlasting, He is in full control of the affairs of history even over kings and kingdoms!

Isaiah 14:27
For the LORD of hosts has purposed,
And who will annul it?
His hand is stretched out,
And who will turn it back?

Nothing happens without the sovereign permission of God. He can even turn the hearts of kings, no matter whether the kings are good or evil, to accomplish His divine purposes, no matter whether they know Him or not.

Deuteronomy 2:30
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass through, for the LORD your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into your hand, as it is this day.

Ezra 7:27-28
Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem, and has extended mercy to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. So I was encouraged, as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me; and I gathered leading men of Israel to go up with me.

Psalm 105:25
He turned their heart to hate His people,
To deal craftily with His servants.

Proverbs 21:1
The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD,
Like the rivers of water;
He turns it wherever He wishes.

Isaiah 10:5-7
Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.
I will send him against an ungodly nation,
And against the people of My wrath
I will give him charge,
To seize the spoil, to take the prey,
And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
Yet he does not mean so,
Nor does his heart think so;
But it is in his heart to destroy,
And cut off not a few nations.

It was God who hardened the Pharaoh’s heart in Egypt so that His people would know and declare Him as their Deliverer and Saviour! And so that He would bring them out by His mighty power and by His outstretched arm.

Exodus 4:21
And the LORD said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh which I have put in your hand. But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.”

Exodus 7:3-4
And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

It was God who called a Gentile king Cyrus in Persia to rebuild Jerusalem even though Cyrus did not know Him!

Isaiah 44:26-45:4

44:26 Who confirms the word of His servant,
And performs the counsel of His messengers;
Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’
To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’
And I will raise up her waste places;
27 Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry!
And I will dry up your rivers’;
28 Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,
And he shall perform all My pleasure,
Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,”
And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”’
45:1 “Thus says the LORD to His anointed,
To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held
To subdue nations before him
And loose the armor of kings,
To open before him the double doors,
So that the gates will not be shut:
2 ‘I will go before you
And make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the LORD,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.
4 For Jacob My servant’s sake,
And Israel My elect,
I have even called you by your name;
I have named you, though you have not known Me.

It was God who gave the wicked Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon his kingdom and power even though the evil king did not know Him!

Daniel 2:37-38
You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.

Our sovereign God knows what is happening in our world. We can be fully assured of this. Very often His enemies unknowingly fulfilled His will.

One of the best examples was the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ! None of the rulers of this age knew His master plan of salvation. For if they had known about it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

John 19:24
They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: “They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.

1 Corinthians 2:7-8
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Acts 4:27-28
For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.

Since the beginning of time, God declared, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.” From the beginning to the end, God predicted the outcome and foretold what would eventually happen.

God declared that His plans would never fail, and that He would do everything He intended to do. Indeed He has spoken it, and He will also bring it to pass. He has purposed it, and He will also do it.

Isaiah 46:9-11
Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’
Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man who executes My counsel, from a far country.
Indeed I have spoken it;
I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it;
I will also do it.

Isaiah 55:10-11
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

As we witness the terrible and disturbing events happening daily around the world caused by evil tyrants, wicked kings, ungodly national leaders or unrighteous presidents, we should never be discouraged! Because God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose! Yes, though we may not see with our human eyes, but behind the scenes, our Lord is faithfully carrying out His divine plans until the words of God are fulfilled.

This one thing we know: Ultimately God is in full control, not those kings, tyrants, rulers or presidents.

Psalm 24:1
The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.

Revelation 11:15
Then the seventh angel sounded:
And there were loud voices in heaven, saying,
The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ,
and He shall reign forever and ever!

So meanwhile, what do we do? We should never be discouraged. Just take it to the Lord in prayer. And continue to keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith! In doing so, we will begin to trust in the LORD with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts.

Remember Simon Peter. On the night of the arrest of Jesus in Gethsemane, Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?” (John 18:10-11)

Peter thought he could help Jesus by taking matters into his own hands. But he almost ruined the perfect plan of God! The battle belongs to the LORD!

2 Chronicles 20:15
Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude,
for the battle is not yours, but God’s.‘

Forever God is reigning gloriously and victoriously.
