Come, And Let Us Go
Micah 4
The LORD’s Reign in Zion
1 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the LORD’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And peoples shall flow to it.
2 Many nations shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion the law shall go forth,
And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
3 He shall judge between many peoples,
And rebuke strong nations afar off;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
4 But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig
tree,
And no one shall make them afraid;
For the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.
5 For all people walk each in the name of his god,
But we will walk in the name of the LORD our God
Forever and ever.
Zion’s Future Triumph
6 “In that day,” says the LORD,
“I will assemble the lame,
I will gather the outcast
And those whom I have afflicted;
7 I will make the lame a remnant,
And the outcast a strong nation;
So the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion
From now on, even forever.
8 And you, O tower of the flock,
The stronghold of the daughter of Zion,
To you shall it come,
Even the former dominion shall come,
The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.”
9 Now why do you cry aloud?
Is there no king in your midst?
Has your counselor perished?
For pangs have seized you like a woman in labor.
10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth,
O daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in birth pangs.
For now you shall go forth from the city,
You shall dwell in the field,
And to Babylon you shall go.
There you shall be delivered;
There the LORD will redeem you
From the hand of your enemies.
11 Now also many nations have gathered against you,
Who say, “Let her be defiled,
And let our eye look upon Zion.”
12 But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD,
Nor do they understand His counsel;
For He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
13 “Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion;
For I will make your horn iron,
And I will make your hooves bronze;
You shall beat in pieces many peoples;
I will consecrate their gain to the LORD,
And their substance to the LORD of the whole earth.”
In the latter days, Mount Zion will be the most renowned of all
the mountains of the world. It will be highly esteemed by all nations.
People from all over the world will make holy pilgrimages there.
They will come and say to one another, “Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord where God dwells. He will tell us what to do,
and we will do it.” For in those days, the whole world will be ruled
by the Lord from Jerusalem! He is the King of Zion, and Jerusalem is
the city of God! He will issue His laws, and announce His decrees
from there.
He will rule and reign over many nations, even nations that are
far away. They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their
spears into pruning hooks. Nations shall no longer fight against each other.
All the wars will end. There will be global and perfect peace. All
the military academies and training camps will be closed down.
Everyone will live quietly in his own home in peace and prosperity,
for there will be no more terror and fear. The Lord Himself has promised
this. Therefore, His people will follow the Lord forever and ever,
even though all the surrounding nations worship idols!
In that day that is coming, the Lord says that He will bring back
His people. Yes, even those who are sick, lame and cast out. He will
make them to dwell again in their own land, and to become a strong and
mighty nation. And the Lord Himself shall be their King from Mount
Zion forever. Just as before, Jerusalem will be glorious again! It
will be the watchtower of God’s people as royal might and power will
come back again.
But for now, the people of God may live in terror. Where is their
King to lead them? Is He dead? Where are their wise men? Are they
all gone? Pain has gripped them like a woman in labor. Some of them
are still scattered among the nations. Some of them are still living
and groaning in terrible pains. But, when the time comes, the King
will return and rescue them, and free them from the grip of their
enemies.
Many nations have gathered together against the people of
God, seeking to kill and destroy them. But these pagan people
neither
know the thoughts of the Lord nor understand His plan. For the time
will come when the Lord will gather together the enemies of His
people like sheaves upon the threshing floor. They will no longer
cause any harm to God's people again!
When this happens, the nations will be threshed, and their wealth
will be offered to the Lord, the Creator of all the earth.
Zechariah 14:11-19
11 The people shall dwell in it;
And no longer shall there be utter destruction,
But Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
12 And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all
the people who fought against Jerusalem:
Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet,
Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets,
And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.
13 It shall come to pass in that day
That a great panic from the LORD will be among them.
Everyone will seize the hand of his neighbor,
And raise his hand against his neighbor’s hand;
14 Judah also will fight at Jerusalem.
And the wealth of all the surrounding nations
Shall be gathered together:
Gold, silver, and apparel in great abundance.
15 Such also shall be the plague
On the horse and the mule,
On the camel and the donkey,
And on all the cattle that will be in those camps.
So shall this plague be.
The Nations Worship the King
16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the
nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year
to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of
Tabernacles.
17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth
do
not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on
them there will be no rain.
18 If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall
have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the
LORD
strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of
Tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all
the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
Jerusalem shall be inhabited, safe and free at last. It will
never be cursed and destroyed again.
The Lord will send a plague on all the people who fought against Jerusalem.
They will become like walking corpses. Their flesh will rot away.
Their eyes will dissolve in their sockets. And their tongues will
decay in their mouths. They will be seized with great terror. They
will panic, and will fight against each other.
All Judah will be fighting at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the
neighboring nations will be confiscated. Great quantities of gold
and silver, and fine clothings will be gathered for the King.
This same plague will strike the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and
all the other animals in the enemy camps.
In the end, those who survive the plague will go up to Jerusalem
each year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, to celebrate a
time of thanksgiving in the Feast of Tabernacles. And any nation in
all the world that refuses to come to Jerusalem to worship the King,
the LORD Almighty, will have no rain. If Egypt refuses to come, God
will punish her with some other plagues. If the other
nations refuse to come, they will be punished too.
Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord. I remembered 20
years ago in 2002, I prayed about going to Jerusalem for the
Feast of Tabernacles. I heard a word, "Come." I was praying about
going, but I heard the invitation "Come." It was a calling to come
to the city of God.
The Feast of Tabernacles is like a wedding feast. And before the
wedding, invitations are sent out to call people to come and celebrate.
Matthew 22:1-14
The Parable of the Wedding Feast
1 And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:
2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a
marriage for his son,
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the
wedding; and they were not willing to come.
4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are
invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle
are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’
5 But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own
farm, another to his business.
6 And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and
killed them.
7 But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out
his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who
were invited were not worthy.
9 Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to
the wedding.’
10 So those servants went out into the highways and gathered
together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding
hall was filled with guests.
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there
who did not have on a wedding garment.
12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a
wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take
him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping
and gnashing of teeth.’
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
When the time comes, will we come as we are called and invited?
Will we come, and go up to the mountain of the Lord? Or will we make
silly excuses, and not attend His Wedding Feast?
There in His holy city, He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk
in His paths.
