Pure Wisdom

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable,
gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
James 3:17

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalm 19:9-10

More than just acquiring knowledge, wisdom requires seeking His Word, doing it and teaching it (Ezra 7:10). Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know (1 Cor. 8:1-2).

The Lift Test can also be used to determine the purity of wisdom:

  • How much time did Joseph have before Pharaoh to interpret the dreams?
  • How much time did Daniel have before Nebuchadnezzar to explain the vision?

Both of them passed the Lift Test! And both of them had pure wisdom from above.
