God's heart is to have a people who will bear His Holy
Name! We be His people and He be our God!
In Exodus 19:5-6, "'Now
therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant,
then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all
the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of
priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you
shall speak to the children of Israel."
His original intention of His
covenant is to have His laws written in the hearts of man as in Deut
6:4-6: "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall
love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and
with all your strength. And these words which I command you
today shall be in your heart."
But the people of God chose
otherwise. They preferred to hear God through a middleman, Moses.
They preferred to stand afar and not approach His holy mountain.
God's original plan is for all
of the people to hear Him directly and obey Him. They did hear Him
spoke the Ten Commandments but they did not obey Him!
